Project: Retro-Style MTB Social Edit 🚲
The Challenge
The goal was to create a high-energy, engaging social media clip for a friend, documenting a day of mountain biking. The creative challenge was to take "rustic" footage filmed on a digital camcorder and elevate it using a complex editing style currently trending on Instagram, which relies on precision and modern techniques.

My Solution
I embraced the low-fi, retro aesthetic of the camcorder footage and used it as a stylistic foundation, contrasting it with sharp, fast-paced editing.

Aesthetic Enhancement: I leaned into the "rustic" look by incorporating glitch effects and VHS-style overlays (like the "CLOCK SET" and "REC" timers) to create a cohesive, nostalgic feel.

Dynamic Masking: I used advanced masking techniques to create dynamic split-screen and inset video effects. This allowed me to show multiple angles and actions simultaneously, adding energy and complexity to the edit.

Precision Match Cuts: The edit is driven by a series of fast-paced match cuts. I meticulously timed these cuts to the beat of the music, creating a rhythmic and visually compelling flow that grabs the viewer's attention—a hallmark of popular Instagram and TikTok edits.

The Result
The final video is a highly stylized social clip that successfully merges a nostalgic, camcorder aesthetic with the technical, fast-paced editing techniques that are popular today. It's a perfect example of how to use creative editing to transform simple footage into an engaging, trend-aware piece of content.
