Project: An Interactive Narrative on AI Consciousness 🤖

This university project was a solo endeavour to explore complex philosophical themes—like artificial general intelligence (AGI) and consciousness—through an interactive medium. The main challenge was to design and build a complete game experience from scratch that could convey a compelling narrative and an emotional journey, rather than just telling a story.

My Solution
I managed the entire production pipeline, from initial concept to the final playable experience in Unity.

Narrative & Game Design: I designed a short, narrative-driven game where the player embodies a self-aware android trying to escape its confinement. The story unfolds primarily through an internal monologue, allowing the player to directly experience the character's philosophical thoughts on its own existence. Gameplay is centred on environmental puzzles, requiring the player to explore and find clues to progress.

3D Modelling & Texturing: I created all the 3D models for the character and the environment using Maya. To achieve the gritty, industrial aesthetic, I then developed detailed, realistic textures for every asset using Substance Painter.

Unity Development: I built the world in Unity, scripting all the core mechanics, including the interactive keypads, puzzle triggers, and the system for delivering the narrative voiceover.

The Result
The final result is a complete, atmospheric walkthrough experience that effectively explores its themes. The combination of environmental storytelling, interactive puzzles, and a compelling inner monologue creates a thoughtful narrative about what it might mean to be a conscious AI.

The project demonstrates my ability to handle a full development pipeline, from 3D asset creation and texturing right through to game logic and final implementation in Unity. You can see a full walkthrough of the experience in the video below.
